The division of the Roman Empire


          THE DIVISION OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE       
           
In the year 395, the Roman emperor Theodosius divided the empire into the Western Roman Empire and the Eastern Roman Empire.
The WESTERN ROMAN EMPIRE was invaded by BARBARIANS and dissapeared in the year 476. This date is considered to be the start of the MIDDLE AGES. This tribes were the Suebi, the Visigoths, the Ostrogoths, The Angles, the Saxons, the Franks and the Vandals.
In the territories of the former Western Empire, several kingdoms were established, for example, the Ostrogoths in Italy and the Franks in Gaul.
